The Saboti MP, Eugene Wamalwa has criticised the Prime Minister Raila Odinga over remarks that some leaders were drunkards and thieves.

He said Raila’s utterance was unaccepted as it was belittling the youthful leaders as drunkards and thieves who could not lead.

"Raila should come up with solutions of problems facing the youths instead of insulting them that they are drunkard and thieves," said Wamalwa.

Wamalwa, who has declared his interest presidency come 2012, was addressing a generational change rally at Tononoka ground in Mombasa.

Wamalwa said the youth know what ails the country and should be given the opportunity to bring change.

"We want leaders who can interpret dreams and not those who give dreams without interpretation," he said. He said they were tired of being told to wait for their time to take over leadership has come.

Wamalwa said it was time for the old guard to pave way for the youth. "We have been voting for them for many years and they keep telling us we are the future leaders, but time has come now for them to make way for us," said Wamalwa.

He told the gathering Kenyans would not allow the Government to privatise the port of Mombasa. He said privatisation was not acceptable, as the local people were not consulted.

Former Mungiki leader, Maina Njenga, who is now a bishop, said the journey to State House had started and hoped they would remain united as the youth. He told the youth to shun tribalism.
