Witnesses are now testifying in a case in which two people, including an alleged police informer, are charged with the murder of Saboti Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Manager Joshua Orina in 2008.

A police officer almost moved the court to tears when he produced photo exhibits of the mutilated body of the official taken at the scene of crime.

David Kipchumba took the court through the 19 photographs, which he had taken after the brutal murder of the CDF official at Nzoia Sugar Company in Bungoma.

Orina was allegedly abducted in Kitale by a CDF committee member, Isaac Masengeli, who is still on the run, before he was found dead with bullet wounds at the sugar plantation in March 2008.

Refused to sign cheques

The deceased had allegedly refused to sign cheques worth Sh1.5 million as demanded by Masengeli when he was lured and abducted near Kitale Law Court.

His decomposing body was discovered two weeks later after two suspects, Nahashon Omondi and Ken Barasa, were arrested and led police to the scene.

Police apprehended the two after images were extracted from a CCTV camera, which captured them withdrawing money from Orina’s Equity Bank Account in Bungoma and Kitale.
