Women leaders back proposed law

The Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organisation (MYWO) has said it will use its regional representatives to conduct civic education for the referendum.

Speaking on Friday after a representatives’ meeting, MYWO National Chairperson Rukia Subow said women have struggled for affirmative action and they would ensure the Proposed Constitution is passed at the referendum.

"We will not let a few clauses bar Kenyans from getting a new document they have yearned for for over two decades," said Subow.

She added: "The fact that there is one clause that we are not comfortable with should not bring down a document that has a lot of benefits for women and the country."
