Wamae passes the buck in KCC row

By Mutinda Mwanzia

Chairman of New KCC Matu Wamae has accused a Cabinet minister of waging a vendetta war against the board of directors.

Wamae on Friday claimed Co-operatives Minister Joe Nyagah has been harassing the board over milk glut in Central and Rift Valley provinces.

This followed protests by central Kenya MPs led by Assistant Minister Kabando wa Kabando that large volumes of milk was going to waste.

Wamae said the current milk glut is occasioned by increased production in the dairy sector and has nothing to do with inefficiency at factory. He said KCC milk plants could not cope with the increased production.

Nyagah who appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture on Thursday blamed the problem on Wamae and former MD Francis Mwangi.
