The 2022 Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Premier League will resume this coming weekend with matches lined up on Saturday and Sunday after a three-week break.

The league was temporarily halted on August 1 to pave way for the General Elections that ended two weeks ago.

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) men's and women's basketball teams are currently leading their respective leagues after dominating their opening seven matches.

KPA men lead the men's standings with 13 points collected from their six wins and one defeat.

On the other hand, FIBA Africa Zone V champions KPA women who are unbeaten in their seven matches played so far lead the log with 14 points.

"People think we are getting these wins easily because of the depth of the squad but what they don't know is that these girls work hard. We have been very hard and we will continue grinding until all championships are in our trophy cabinet," said KPA coach Anthony Ojukwu.

There will be 25 first leg matches on the cards played in Nairobi, Kisii and Kakamega.

Six top men's and women's Premier League matches are lined up with seven-time champions Ulinzi Warriors taking on hot rivals Equity Bank Dumas at Nyayo National Stadium on August 28.

Meanwhile, KPA women will seek to defend their title when they grace this year's championship set to be played next month in Tanzania.

KPA, who are also the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) women's Premier League champions thrashed local rivals Equity Bank Hawks 71-35 in the decisive tie to be crowned the 2021 FIBA Africa Zone Club champions.

Hawks and KPA who are the top two women's basketball sides in the country will represent the country at the Zone Five club championship set for September 26 to October 1 in Dar es Salaam.
