Cheruiyot and Kasait set for Prison meet

World 1500m Champion Timothy Cheruiyot and Africa Games 5000m champion Lilian Kasait will star at the Kenya Prisons Service cross country Championships tomorrow at the Prisons Staff Training College, Ruiru.

Kasait and two-time world under-20 steeplechase champion Celliphine Chespol will line up in women’s 10km alongside Visciline Chepkesho.  

Daniel Too and Cornelius Kangogo will battle in men’s 10km. The race will also feature Fredrick Musyoki and Luke Kibet, the 2007 world marathon champion.

Cheruiyot will take part in the mix relays alongside Evans Korir and Silvia Chesebe.

Prisons will use the championships to pick a team to the national cross country championships set for February 8 at Uhuru gardens. Athletics Kenya will use the championships to pick the national team to the Africa cross country championships set for Lome, Togo.
