Kisumu to host East Africa Poetic Hour Battle

Kisumu is gearing up to host the highly anticipated 2024 East Africa Poetic Hour Battle on May 25th, an event set to redefine the role of poetry as a cultural and economic force in the region.

Organized by Talent Industry Limited, this year's edition promises to be even bigger and more impactful than ever before.

Godfrey Emoja, the Managing Director of Talent Industry Limited, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event, stating, "We are filled with excitement to once again host this impactful event in Kisumu City.

“This achievement is made possible by the tremendous success of last year's edition and the continuous support of poetry enthusiasts from Kisumu City and beyond."

Under the theme "Capitalizing On Creativity: Unlocking Economic Opportunities through Poetic Expression," the event aims to harness the power of poetry to spark conversations on cultural heritage and economic empowerment.

Poets from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Congo, Burundi, and Tanzania will converge in Kisumu to showcase their talents and compete for the title of East Africa's Poetic Giant.

With the support of the County Government of Kisumu and various esteemed partners, Talent Industry Limited plans to organize workshops across East Africa to nurture creativity and equip aspiring poets with the tools to monetize their talents.

These efforts align with the overarching goal of revolutionizing the poetry landscape and promoting it as a viable career path.

The East Africa Poetic Hour Battle will culminate in a grand showcase, where the winning poet will receive a cash prize of Sh100,000 along with other exciting benefits.

Emoja extended a warm invitation to creatives, strategic partners, and the community at large to join in and witness the incredible talents of the East African region.

Kisumu County CEC for Sports, Culture, Gender and Youth Affairs Beatrice Odongo invited the vast neighboring East African countries to the Lake City once again for this exceptional event.

“Kisumu City is honored to host this year's POETIC BATTLE once again, following the success of last year's event. This demonstrates our continuous commitment to supporting and celebrating the talent of our youth.
