Former Kenya Prisons captain Ibrahim Oduor and long-serving international Brackcides Agala have been appointed in the technical benches of the national men and women beach volleyball teams.

The duo who have previously represented Kenya in Olympic qualifiers have been drafted as team managers to prepare teams for the 13th Africa Games to be held in March next year in Accra, Ghana.

Kenya Volleyball Federation secretary Ismail Chege said the appointments of the duo who are also the athletes’ representatives at the federation are expected to contribute to the success of the teams in the upcoming competitions.

"We appreciate your dedication and commitment to volleyball in Kenya, and we look forward to achieving great results in the upcoming beach volleyball events," said Chege.

Oduor is the new Team Manager of the men's beach volleyball taking over from Sammy Mulinge and he will work closely with Patrick Owino who has been retained as the head coach.

Agala, also a Kenya Prisons player, is the new Team Manager of the women beach volleyball side and will team up with Sally Wanjala who has been retained as the head coach to prepare the team for the continental games and the 2024 Olympic games qualifiers.

At the same time, Chege said after the federation's National Executive Committee meeting, John Odhiambo has been appointed as the overall Team Manager for both men and women teams preparing for the East African Community games in Rwanda.

Reigning national women volleyball champions KCB head coach Japheth Munala has been picked to handle the women's team for the regional games with Josp Baraza (Kenya Prisons) and Paul Gitau (Kenya Pipeline) as his assistants.

General Service Unit (GSU) coach Gideon Tarus will handle the men's team and will be assisted by Elisha Aliwa and Denis Mokua.
