The Azimio la Umoja coalition has recommended the raising of County Government allocation from the current 15 per cent to 35 per cent.

They said that the proposal will be presented at the National Dialogue Committee that is taking place between the coalition and the ruling Kenya Kwanza administration.

This was revealed in an address following a meeting between the coalition leaders and governors who were elected on its ticket.

The meeting that was held in Mombasa County sought to examine the progress made for the one year the governors have been in office as well as the challenges they face in service delivery.

According to the coalition the National Government has been meddling in the affairs of County Governments and they want the President William Ruto-led administration to respect Counties.

They also want the national government to ensure that funds allocated to counties are disbursed on time to ensure fast delivery of services continues.

“This will go a long way in averting industrial actions by workers that end up slowing down the delivery of service to the people,” says the coalition in a statement.

Azimio says that the County Government Act should be amended to ease the process of releasing funds allocated to the counties.

The coalition claims that governors have to travel to Nairobi in order to push for the approval for requisitions.
