The Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary closure of Kyang’ombe slip road at City Cabanas stage on Mombasa Road from Thursday, August 17 to Friday, August 25.

In a statement on Friday, KeNHA said that the closure will allow for the construction of two additional lanes that will ease traffic in the area.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority informs the public that there will be a temporary closure of Kyang'ombe Slip Road along Mombasa Road (A8) near the former Ramtons Hypermart from Thursday, August 17 to Friday, August 25, 2023."

The additional two lanes will comprise a deceleration lane into Kyang'ombe Slip Road and a tailback storage lane for traffic destined for Eastern Bypass.

A deceleration lane is a lane that allows traffic exiting a major road to slow down to a safer speed to make a left or right turn at an intersection without affecting the main flow of traffic.

Motorists headed to Inland Container Depot (ICD) have been advised to proceed straight on Mombasa Road and exit at the Laboratory and Allied into ICD Road.

Normal traffic is expected to resume after the completion of the construction.

Motorists have been urged to cooperate with traffic police for ease of movement.
