The President of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK) Abraham Samoei today thanked the Department of Land and Physical Planning for its open-door policy.

Samoei said that the close cooperation with other stakeholders had made their work easier.

Samoei said that he had worked with three administrations and that his members and other players in the land sector are better served now.

“I have worked through the past two administrations and we feel happy with the engagements with this administration,” said Samoei.

He spoke in the company of the incoming ISK President Eric Nyadimo when he came to append his signature on the agreement between the Government and land sector stakeholders on sectional properties.

The agreement was also signed last week by the Law Society of Kenya and the Kenya Bankers Association.

PS Nixon Korir assured the surveyors that his department will always be available to cooperate with stakeholders to better serve Kenyans.

"I want to commit that we will work with you to serve Kenyans better. We will not engage in monologues and pretend to know everything, " said the PS.

The PS said after the signing of the agreement, he will now issue a circular that will notify the public when the deal comes into effect and when it lapses.

With the signing of the agreement, owners of sectional properties have now been given a window of six months during which they can obtain title deeds.

The moratorium temporarily lifts the requirements for getting apartments to have geo referencing before they can be titled.
