Village boy takes over as Kenya's fifth president

William Samoei Ruto was sworn in Tuesday, September 13, as Kenya's fifth president and he promised to unite the country, lower the cost of living and revive a struggling economy.

Ruto began an almost hour-long inauguration speech by hailing it as a moment unlike no other, and one where a "village boy" had become president.
