American Senator Chris Coons is in the country and is expected to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta today.

The visit is part of the Senators' third stop on a five Africa visit.

Obviously, the ambassador and the Kenya political heavyweights will discuss the disputed presidential election and Kenya's political stability as a regional power.

"Fantastic to welcome the Senator Chris Coons-led delegation to the third stop on a five-country Africa visit!. The Senator-led delegation will meet with conservationists, health providers, and organizations working to empower girls," Meg posted on her Twitter account.

The U.S has so far not congratulated President-elect William Ruto but the embassy has commended the active participation of Kenya's political parties, civil society, and citizens in shaping robust discussions throughout the campaign period.

"We applaud the efforts of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, security forces, and all electoral institutions to organize a peaceful and orderly voting and counting process," the embassy said.

According to the embassy, under the leadership of Wafula Chebukati, the electoral body declared Ruto as the winner of the presidential election, which is an important milestone in the electoral process.

"Going forward, we urge all parties to work together to peacefully resolve any remaining concerns about this election through existing dispute resolution mechanisms. We ask all political party leaders to continue to urge their supporters to remain peaceful and refrain from violence during the electoral process," read part of the statement.
