Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior led Wiper allied politicians in rallying voters in Ukambani to vote for Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

At the weekend, the Wiper brigade pitched tent in Kibwezi West, one of the constituencies where Deputy President William Ruto has campaigned the most in Ukambani.

Makueni MP Dan Maanzo, who is vying for the Senate seat, told the locals that voting for Mr Odinga was like voting for Kalonzo Musyoka.

"Our son joined Raila Odinga and that is where our share is as the Kamba community. We have been sitting on the opposition side and that is why we have suffered development wise, let's make the right decisions in the coming polls," said Maanzo at Kisayani shopping centre.

Kilonzo Junior revisited the Ukambani voting pattern in the last two elections, 2013 and 2017, saying the region will overwhelmingly vote for Raila in next week's elections.

"Those who will be voting in the Azimio flagbearer will increase this year compared to the past two elections. We stood with him by then, and we are also doing the same in this elections without fail," Kilonzo Junior told Kibwezi residents.

Kilonzo Junior, who is vying for Makueni governorship, expressed confidence that Wiper will sweep all seats to give Kalonzo more muscles in Raila's government.

He persuaded residents along the Kibwezi-Kitui road, who gave their land for the construction of a road, to elect Raila and Martha Karua, saying the two will address their compensation issues.

Although some of the locals have been compensated, a majority have not.

In Makueni, Wiper has split into several groups which are popularising Raila's candidature.

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana is leading a different group.

Yesterday, the Wiper team took its campaigns to Kaiti constituency and Mbooni West.
