Police officer in custody for assaulting his boss

A police officer has been arrested after he assaulted his boss at a police station in Meru.

The officer and his boss are said to have disagreed while at work at Mikinduri Police Station in Tigania.

The police constable is alleged to have kicked and punched his station commander.

Other officers who were present at the station during the Monday attack restrained the police corporal from inflicting more injuries on his boss.

A communication from the station to Police headquarters, Vigilance house, on the matter stated that the officer had been arrested and locked in the cells.

According to the brief, the station boss had assigned the officer to accompany a health officer together with other officials from the County administration on an assignment to arrest violators of Covid-19 health guidelines in Mikinduri area.

It is not clear if the officer went for the assignment as he returned to the Police Station. He appeared drank leading to the violent confrontation with his boss.

The officer will be charged in court with assault.

Elsewhere in Garissa, police are holding a chief who is alleged to have attacked a friend with a machete at a hotel in Ijara town.

The Government official is said to have inflicted cut wounds on Buro Abdi who is admitted to hospital where he is receiving treatment.

Buro is said to have suffered a deep cut on his left side of his forehead and another injury on his right hand.

It is not clear why the administrator attacked the man.

The 11 am attack on Tuesday, was reported to Masalani Police Station.

After attacking the man, the chief is reported to have fled using a motor vehicle.

Police officers who were manning a road block in Ijara later arrested the suspect.
