Nasty C makes acting debut in Netflix’s ‘Blood and Water’

South African rapper Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, popularly known as Nasty C has made his acting debut in Netflix's soon to be released African series. The 23-year-old took to social media to share the news with his fans.

According to his post on Instagram, Nasty C will be part of an African series dubbed Blood & Water premiering on May 20.

“My debut acting role! Catch me in the upcoming Netflix second original African series, Blood & Water,” he wrote.

The series tells the story of a young girl who engineers a transfer to a prestigious school to investigate the 17-year-old cold case of her older sister who was abducted at birth. It features a host of stars, including Ama Qamata, Natasha Thahane, Cindy Mahlangu, Thabang Molaba and Gail Mabalane.

Nasty C will play the role of a music producer.

In a statement sent to TshisaLIVE, Nasty C said he was excited at the chance to add acting to his list of talents and said the process was organic.

“My character is KB’s (Thabang Molaba's) producer, who helps him put together really cool tracks. This is what I do every day and so it was a natural role for me.”

The star also recorded for the series' soundtrack and said it was an exciting project.

“It’s insane! I’ve never really acted before and even though I was being myself by making music, it was a crazy experience. I’m super proud to be a part of the Blood & Water soundtrack. There’s some dope artists included as well and the series is really made for the youth, which I’m excited about.”

The upcoming series is directed by Nosipho Dumisa and it is the second African series by Netflix.

Earlier this week, the celebrated rapper via Instagram live with Dallas-based Kenyan DJ Poizon Ivy confessed that he still has hopes for Camp Mulla’s reunion.

"I’d still like to see Camp Mulla do something. Every time I’m there I’m always chilling with Shappa. I think they still have it in them and would love to see them do something. Even if it’s just a song, something deserves to happen.”

The BET Award winner went on to pay homage to Khaligraph Jones as a respected OG.

"I’ve met him before and he seemed like a solid dude. A lot of people refer to him as the OG, so I guess he has that bright future too," Nasty said.

The rapper was recently the talk of the town in South Africa after he openly admitted that he considers some conspiracy theories regarding Nelson Mandela to be true. In an interview with VLAD TV, Nasty C insinuated that the real Nelson Mandela died in prison.

"There will always be these conspiracies that he was a clone and that the real Mandela died in prison and then they made up a clone, that type of sh**. I don't mind it though".
