Three MCAs among 16 people at Kisii KMTC quarantine centre

Three Kisii County Assembly Members are among the 16 people quarantined at the area's Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).

The three were arrested on Friday for disregarding guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The three MCAs were arrested by security officers from Nyanchwa Police station for not wearing masks and being in public places during curfew hours.

Kisii County Police Commander Jebel Munene said among those in quarantine include two medics, a man and a woman.

The woman escaped from self isolation in Kericho and travelled to Kisii to visit her boyfriend, also a healthworker.

According to Dr Richard Onkware, the County Director of Public Helath, the government will undertake necessary procedures on all those in quarantine.

"This is a World Health Organisation procedure which we have to adhere to."
