Shock as class three pupil commits suicide after arguing with brother

A class three pupil at Umoja primary school in Rurii, Ol Kalou has committed suicide in unclear circumstances, a move that has left the entire village in shock.

This is after he alleged quarreled with his nine-year-old brother yesterday afternoon.

The deceased aged 12 was playing with his younger brother when a quarrel ensued, according to his mother Esther Mumbi.

His body was only later to be found dangling from a tree some 600 meters away from their home.

“The two were playing within the compound when I heard them quarreling over what I did not since they have always been together. It was then that I heard the elder brother saying that he was going to pick some fruits never to return, “said the mother.

She said that it was later that they started searching for him only to find his body hanged from a tree.

Nyandarua County Police Commander, Dr Gideon Ngumi, confirmed the incident terming it as shocking.

“We will however conduct thorough investigations to find what really transpired after they quarreled,” he noted.


Dr Ngumi said the law dictates that such matters must not be taken as suicide.

“It is a sudden death and public enquiry is mandatory”, he said.

The body has since been moved to JM Kariuki hospital mortuary in Ol Kalou awaiting postmortem to authentic if it was suicide or foul play, he added.
