Suspects in priest’s murder case fail to take plea

Three suspected killers of Machakos Catholic Priest Michael Kyengo failed to take plea yesterday on grounds that they had not been supplied with necessary documents.

Embu High Court Judge Florence Muchemi directed that Solomon Mutava, Michael Muthini and Kavivya Mwangangi take pleas on Thursday next week.

The three are accused of taking part in the murder of Fr Kyengo on October 7, and have already undergone mental examinations at Mathari Hospital.

The 43-year-old priest disappeared from his parent’s Tala home in Matungulu, Machakos County on October 5.

His body was recovered on October 16, in a shallow grave in Mbeere South sub-county, Embu County.
