Ken Okoth’s widow rejects DNA results

Monica Okoth, widow of late Kibra MP Ken Okoth, on Wednesday stated that she is not satisfied with the DNA test results that showed the deceased sired Nominated MCA Anne Thumbi’s son.

While making formal submissions on whether she had accepted the September 5, 2019, outcome, Monica said she had commissioned independent DNA tests on Okoth and Thumbi’s son but the results are not yet out.

She requested to be given 20 days but the magistrate directed that she be given 15 days to confirm whether the outcome would be different.

Thumbi’s lawyer, Elkana Mogaka, however, asked the court to close the case saying the first outcome was conclusive.

Soon after the death of Okoth, Thumbi went to court to have her child recognised as Okoth's biological son.

She had sued the MP's mother Angeline Okoth, his wife Monica and Lee Funeral Home.

Thumbi wanted her son recognised as Okoth's son before the MP's funeral.

In her application, Thumbi had attached a photo showing Okoth's mother with her grandson during one of their meetings.

Also attached was a photo of Okoth carrying his young son. She also attached a birth certificate of her son that showed he bore the surname, Okoth.
