Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has ordered for the arrest of Joseph Mwangi Nduta popularly known as Joe Mwangi for impersonating a Cabinet Secretary and threatening gymnast Wendy Waeni’s mother.

In a tweet, DCI issued a warrant of arrest against Mwangi over forging a letter purported to have originated from a Cabinet Secretary threatening Magdalene Mbele.

Waeni and her former manager differed after she claimed that her then-manager (Mwangi) did not give her mother even a penny accruing from her performances.

During an interview on Citizen TV's JKL, Waeni accused her former manager of exploiting her talent for selfish gains, eliciting fury from a section of Kenyans.

Waeni claimed her mother was suffering because Mwangi did not share with them money coming from her performance across the world.

“I’ve been performing all over the world, and right now I live in Huruma because of Joe Mwangi. I’ve performed in Rwanda, Germany, and China…and I’ve not got even a single penny. My mum is suffering right now, she sells sweets, I live in Huruma in a single-room with her.

“People are telling me that I’m rude, that I’m a brat who post things on Instagram, but I don’t have access to my social media accounts, it’s Joe Mwangi who controls them,” said Waeni.

Mwangi, however, hit back accusing Ms Mbele of embezzling the funds he sent to her and misleading her daughter, accusations she denied saying Mwangi took almost everything from her daughter’s sweat.

She accused Mwangi of receiving money from ODM leader Raila Odinga and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka but hid it from them.

“Raila Odinga gave my daughter Sh140,000, but we only saw Sh30,000,” she said, adding that even Musyoka chipped in, but they did not get the money.

The DCI had promised to investigate the matter after members of the public condemned Mwangi for robbing the young girl of her sweat.
