Three killed in road accident after attending De’Mathew’s burial

Three people were killed in a road accident as they were travelling home after attending the burial of the late Kikuyu musician John De’Mathew in Mukurwe village.

The three died after a saloon car they were travelling in collided with an oncoming pick up at Gatunyu market.

Five others were rushed to Thika Level Five Hospital for treatment with deep cuts.

The accident caused a traffic snarl-up along Thika-Gatanga road as good Samaritans assisted the injured to Thika Hospital before police arrived at the scene.

Murang’a County Police Commander Josphat Kinyua said the five were in stable condition receiving treatment.

Kinyua appealed to motorists to exercise caution while on highways to prevent road accidents.

“The vehicles were towed to Kirwara Police Station for inspection to help establish the cause of the accident,” said Kinyua.

The bodies were moved to General Kago Mortuary.
