Mugs of Mugs offers perfect training ground for Lusaka-bound team

The Mugs of Mugs Polo Championships provided a perfect opportunity for gelling and training session of the national Junior team heading to Zambia tomorrow for the Lusaka International Championships this weekend.

The team of five players was divided into two teams. Some played together for cohesion while the rest were incorporated with speedy players to improve on their swiftness and agility.

The juniors are led by 17-year-old handicap 2.5 international Jadini Nzomo, Ben Stonewigg (1), Tom Stonewigg (0.5) and William Millar (0.5) while Megan Griffiths is a reserve player.

Three players were in the Nyumnyum team that lifted the Mugs of Mugs Polo Championships title at the Northern Polo Club in Timau over the weekend.

The team had William Millar, Tom Stonewigg (0.5) and Ben Stonewigg (1) and Harry Stichbury (1).

They achieved the feat after dismissing 6-Foot 6-2 in a one-sided match.

Tom scored three goals, Millar two and Ben Stonewigg one while handicap 2.5 Henry Limb put through a double for 6-Foot.

"The tournament enabled the youngsters do their best to win the two trophies, which could be an indicator of a possible positive performance at the Lusaka Championships," Mugs of Mugs Tournament Director Tiva Gross said.
