Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has proposed a retreat for Mt Kenya region leaders to discuss the succession plan ahead of 2022.
Speaking in Kigumo constituency yesterday, Mr Kuria said there was need for communities in the region to reflect on the political journey they have undertaken since 1992, so that they can plan ahead.
“Our leaders should shape regional politics early so as to help them prepare a bargain agreement ahead of 2022,” said Kuria.
He said when the polls come, Mt Kenya communities should and shun leaders who have failed to initiate development projects but have instead concentrated on playing politics.
Commenting on the proposed parliamentary system of government fronted by referendum enthusiasts, Kuria said such a system cannot work until all constituencies are equally populated.
“The parliamentary system is unacceptable. Let constituencies first have even populations," said Kuria.
