Ken Okoth always checked up on our son — Anne Thumbi

Nominated MCA Anne Thumbi has revealed that the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth was very supportive to their son.

This comes after Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko spilled the beans during Okoth’s funeral service at Moi Girls High School on Thursday.

Thumbi stated that is indeed true she had a son with Okoth and they named him Jayden Baraka Okoth.

Speaking for the first time about her relationship with the deceased, Thumbi described him as a good man who was keen on his son’s education.

“He was a good man. So loving and always positive about life.

“Being keen on education, he always asked how Jayden was doing in school and whenever he could he would check on his progress with the teachers,” said Thumbi, who previously worked as a nurse.

Further, she revealed that when Okoth was about to travel back to Kenya after treatment in Paris, France, he had one request; “take care of our son.”

Okoth succumbed to colorectal cancer last week and leaders lauded him for his open minded approach to issues and his quest to ensure the people of Kibra live better lives.

On Thursday, ODM leader Raila Odinga said he will work with Okoth’s family to ensure that his last wishes are honoured.

He urged those who are in disagreement over the final resting place of the deceased to reach a common ground and give the former legislator a proper send off.

"Nina hakika ya kwamba tutaweza kumpeleka Ken alale vizuri vile yeye mwenyewe alikua akitaka ( I have faith that we will be able to move Ken's remains and give him send off as he had wished)," Raila said.

Okoth's 'second wife' Ann Thumbi obtained a court order on Thursday blocking the burial or cremation of the body before a petition she has filed is determined.
