Governor Francis Kimemia has signed into law the county's Appropriation Bill 2019, paving the way for the Executive to implement the Sh6.5 billion 2019-20 budget.

Out of this amount, Sh1.9 billion will go to development expenditure, while Sh782 million has been allocated to the county assembly.

The rest- Sh3.8 billion - will go to recurrent expenditure.

While appending his signature on the bill, Kimemia said both the Executive and the county Assembly, worked harmoniously in making the budget.

“This is a people’s budget which addresses issues and allocates resources through a thorough process of public participation," Kimemia said.

"Money has been allocated for projects which have a direct impact on peoples' lives, and I’m grateful for the support shown by the county Assembly, and its departmental committees in preparing this budget.”

The 2019-20 budget has been financed by Sh630 million revenue collected by the county administration, a Sh4.9 billion transfer from the national government and conditional grants amounting to Sh1.02 billion.

“This financial year, we are starting the implementation process in earnest," Kimemia said.

"It is my expectation that we shall have executed a number of projects by the end of the year.”

Kimemia also revealed that ward development committees will be established to help in the monitoring of county projects and ensure value for money.

The committees, the governor noted, will be tasked with proper management of the projects and will ensure full compliance with their requirements and specifications.
