Memphis security guard charged with assaulting Lamu Senator, Sonko's daughter

A security guard attached at Mephis Lounge within Kasarani division was today arraigned at Makadara law courts after he was accused of assaulting Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip and Governor Sonko’s daughter Saumu.

David Kombo Lucas was accused that on June 2 at a hotel within Kasarani Sub county in Nairobi, jointly with one other before court and others not before court, assaulted Senator Anwar Loitiptip and Agnes Saumu Mbuvi.

It is stated that Senator Anwar and Saumu had checked into the hotel to watch the UEFA champions’ league where they stayed till 2am in the morning when they decided to leave.

At the gate, Saumu is said to have excused herself to visit the washrooms when the accused person manning the gate followed and grabbed her top tearing it.

Saumu fearing for her safety screamed for help which alerted the Senator to go and rescue her.

The accused at the moment had ducked into one of the rooms after noticing the presence of Anwar who is said to have ordered the accused to face him.

Police stated that the Senator in company of Saumu left in huff and before they could get into the car, they were descended upon by a group of men armed with clubs including the accused person.

Saumu was hit on her right shoulder and elbow while trying to shield Anwar from being hit on the head.

Things were getting out of control when Saumu again raised alarm as accused persons in company of other guards were mercilessly clobbering the senator who had sustained serious injuries.

A police officer from Kasarani Police Station rushed to the scene where they arrested one of the security guards.

The two were rushed to Agha Khan Hospital for treatment.

Kombo denied the accusations and was set free on a cash bail of Sh30,000.

The matter will be heard on September 20.
