Two men were yesterday arraigned in a Kakamega court in connection with the killing of a seven-year-old boy in Matungu on Sunday.

Fredrick Shitechi Osore alias Abdallah, and Aneriko Mark McJimmy did not plead after investigators sought more time to conclude investigations.

Alex Njoroge, attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), sought for custodial orders to enable them to conduct mental assessment in respect to the two suspects.

They are alleged to have murdered Malik Wamukya, a Grade One pupil at Bulimbo Star Academy. The minor was found with several stabs on the stomach and the neck and died while being taken to hospital.

“The respondents are linked to the murder of a child, which occurred on May 20. We pray that they be detained at Kakamega police station to enable us finalise investigations,” said Mr Njoroge.

He said the suspects were to help police to make more arrests in connection with recent killings in Matungu sub-county.

Aneriko was arrested on Sunday while Shiteshi was arrested on Monday at Matungu and Mumias respectively.

The court allowed the two to be detained even as their lawyer objected.

The case will be mentioned on June 5.
