Siaya MCA has claimed his life is in danger after being warned by a senior politician in the county to tread carefully following his suspension motion.

Speaking to journalists yesterday after reporting the matter at Siaya Police Station, Joseph Mboha said he received a phone call from a local senior poitician who told him about the plan to eliminate him.

The South East Alego Ward Rep said he is targeted over his stand on certain matters in the Assembly, adding that goons have been hired to harm him.

"Goons have been hired to eliminate me because of my stand on some issues going on in the Assembly," said Mboha.

Mboha was last week suspended from the Assembly for two weeks after being accused of undermining the Assembly leaders.

In a motion tabled by Yimbo East MCA Francis Otiato, Mboha was accused for allegedly taking to a WhatsApp group to question the integrity of the Assembly.

According to Otiato, Mboha demeaned the Assembly by claiming in the said WhatsApp group that MCAs were passing substandard motions.

The Orange Party MCA has appealed to the police to investigate the threats against him and the motive behind the plan.

Siaya sub-county Police Commander Justus Kucha said police have launched investigations into the claims and a patrol team put in place to ensure the MCA is not harmed.

"We have received a threat report from the MCA and we are investigating the matter. We will not allow anyone to use goons to threaten the lives of others,” he said.

Siaya County Assembly has been in the news for the wrong reasons with locals accusing the Assembly of corruption

Three residents last week petitioned the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate nepotism and corruption allegations in the Assembly after it emerged that MCAs had seconded their girlfriends to be hired as interns.

The Assembly is also on the spot for having ghost workers drawing salaries without doing any work and for sponsoring a non-existent trip to Uganda where it is alleged that each MCA received Sh200,000.

According to locals none of the MCAs was in Uganda for the trip and on the alleged dates for their training.

The MCAs reportedly went Kenya-Uganda boarder to have their passports stamped to justify a trip that never was.
