Four suspects in killing of Chuka OCS arraigned

Four suspects were yesterday arraigned after the killing of Chuka Police Station OCS Joseph Kinyua last week

Joseph Muriithi, Andrew Gikinda, Obadia Kinyua and David Mugambi appeared before a Runyenjes court but did not take plea as investigations have not been completed.

Senior Principal Magistrate, Josphat Gichimu granted the request by police to continue holding the suspects for 14 more days to allow detectives complete their work.

The request was made by Directorate of Criminal Investigation officer Daniel Murgor, who told the court that the suspects were still under interrogation.

The prosecutor, Eunice Musango, did not oppose the application.

The magistrate directed that the suspects be remanded until May 20 when the matter will be mentioned.

The suspects were arrested when police raided Ugweri village in the hunt for killers of the OCS.

The OCS, who was accompanied by a police constable and an informer, was hacked to death as he tried to arrest David Ikaba, suspected to have been involved in the killing of Kamaindi location chief, Josphat Mayau earlier.

Police also shot dead Ikaba during the commotion while the informer sustained serious injuries and is recuperating at hospital.
