Magoha: No turning back on new curriculum

The Government will not allow anyone to stand in the way of implementing the new Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha (pictured) said the Government would also reach out to all stakeholders to support Government efforts.

"Those out to sabotage the programme will not be entertained," said Magoha who spoke at Murang'a High School in Murang'a County, where he opened a capacity building workshop for stakeholders.

The workshop brought together 172 officers from Ministry of Education, Teachers Service Commission, Kenya Institute of Special Education, Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development and Kenya National Examinations Council to discus how best to implement the curriculum.

"We will reach out to all key stakeholders, including teachers and education officials, to ensure effective implementations of the curriculum.

"I will be making impromptu visits to schools to ensure there are adequate books and that implementation of CBC remains on course.

"Stern action will be taken against those responsible if it happens a school does not have books. Textbooks have been distributed but I will tour schools to ensure they have received them," the Cabinet secretary said.
