Man strangles pregnant wife to death

Relatives say the deceased was six months pregnant and had been staying with the alleged killer for two years.

Geoffrey Mayaka, a 27-year-old man has been arrested in Kisii town after he allegedly strangled his wife to death.

The lifeless body of Dorica Nyabuto 23, was found lying in a house located near Kisii University.

Relatives say the deceased was six months pregnant and had been staying with the alleged killer for two years.

The accused was arrested by villagers at Kegati in Kisii Central as he attempted to commit suicide by jumping into River Kuja.

Officers from Kisii Central Police station and DCI visited the scene and it was established that at the time of her death, the deceased was working with the County Government of Kisii.

Confirming the incident, County Police Coordinator Martin Kibet said the accused had on Sunday night called his sister one Rose Mayaka and informed her that he had a disagreement with his partner and he had strangled her.

Kibet said the body had since been moved to the Kisii Level Six Hospital mortuary.
