Court told how man killed father

The court was yesterday told how a 33-year-old man descended on his father and neighbours, attacking them with a machete.

Four prosecution witnesses told High Court Judge William Musyoka that the accused cut his father using a panga before proceeding to six other neighbours at Butsunga, Kakamega East sub-county.

Trouble started when Raphael Ambwoso approached his father Joseph Khakali on January 3, 2017, demanding that he (father) build him a house.

A minor who testified yesterday said she overheard the accused threaten his father, who kept saying he did not have money. Aggrieved by his father’s sentiments, Ambwoso was said to have left and started threatening neighbours to vacate the homestead or he does something bad.

“The following day (January 4) the accused, who is my uncle, sliced my grandfather. He was crying in pain. I tried to scream for help but it was not forthcoming. The accused then left the house and started attacking other people,” said the Form One girl.

Khakali succumbed to various injuries, including one on his head.

The court heard that the accused also went to one Charles Mambiri's house, attacked him and his wife, leaving them unconscious. They were hospitalised for days.

Amwoso has denied the murder and assault cases against. The case was adjourned to May 22.
