KCB Bank Kenya has launched the 2019 KCB Road to the Masters, a golf series that has drawn in local professional players.

A qualifying tourney for this year’s KCB Karen Masters, the pro-am competition, will be run in five clubs across the country — Nyali, Sigona, Thika, Nakuru and Royal.

The bank has set aside Sh2 million as prize money for the local pros — Sh500,000 for each of the four tournaments they will take part in.

While launching the series at the Karen Country Club on Thursday, KCB Group Director of Marketing and Communications Angela Mwirigi said: “We are redefining golfing in Kenya by increasingly giving more opportunities to amateur and professional golfers across the country. We believe in growing sports talent for local and international competitions. It’s our way of using golf to promote sports tourism and as a result, catalyse Kenya’s economic growth agenda."

She added that, “We appreciate the confidence the golfing fraternity has in our brand and we certainly see this as a long term partnership.” [Standard Sports]
