Drama as Uhuru’s aide de camp denied access into AU Summit conference

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s aide de camp was on Sunday involved in a scuffle when he was pushed away and denied entry into the summit hall, where 32nd Heads of State and Governments Summit of the AU was being held.

In one video, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s personal assistant Jomo Gecaga and aide-de-camp Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Lekolol are seen battling their way through a crowded entrance.

However, their efforts are thwarted by Ethiopian security officials who are shoving at everyone around. Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Lekolol is then seen leaving the area going round the building to seek for alternative entrance in the company of another man.

In another video, Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni had to wait for minutes for a way to be cleared as security officers engaged in scramble to gain access to the conference, but their Ethiopian counterparts barred them.

On Saturday, Uhuru flew out of the country to Addis Ababa for the 32nd Heads of State and Governments Summit of the AU, where leaders engaged investors on how to improve the health care services in the continents.

He tweeted on Saturday: “There is need for African countries to come up with policies that support private sector investment in the health sector. We should strive to end the vicious political cycles and embrace long term commitments that give the private sector confidence to invest in the health sector.”

Meanwhile, the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU) is yet to provide on what transpired in Addis Ababa.
