Uhuru does not need Ruto, he is only tolerating him — Mutahi Ngunyi

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi over the weekend opined that President Uhuru Kenyatta does not need DP William Ruto, adding that he (Uhuru) is only tolerating him.

Speaking on his YouTube channel The 5TH Estate, Ngunyi stated that before 2017, the President ‘massaged’ Ruto’s ego and the latter became comfortable.

“If Uhuru needed Ruto in 2017 then Ruto needs Uhuru in 2022. Uhuru is playing the hard-to-get games that Ruto played on him during his first term,” he opined.

On the handshake, the political analyst stated that NASA leader Raila Odinga’s coziness with the President is making the DP uncomfortable especially since he is aiming for the top seat in 2022.

“Uhuru has brought another woman called Raila in the house of Jubilee which he shares with Ruto…He has told Ruto it is not what it looks like…

“Because Ruto has spent the last five years acting as a co-president, his reaction to another woman in Jubilee has been nothing but violent,” he remarked.

Ngunyi further added that if Raila plays his cards right, he might stand a chance in 2022 and Ruto will be on the losing end.

“Ruto should remember that there are no permanent friends in politics…you only have permanent interests, and if those interests change, he (Ruto) should adjust his expectations,” he remarked.

The race for 2022 is heating up and in recent months, a section of Mt.Kenya leaders have warned the DP that his ticket is not guaranteed.

He has attempted to play down talk that he is waiting to ‘inherit’ Uhuru but has faced immense pressure from his colleagues to openly declare his interest.
