A parliamentary committee has reprimanded Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and his Starehe counterpart Charles Njagua after they were involved in a scuffle.

The Powers and Privileges Committee, chaired by National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, said the MPs' behaviour had invited Parliament to ridicule and lowered its dignity.

Muturi directed the duo to apologise, on the floor of the House, for conducting themselves in a manner that reflected negatively on the dignity and integrity of the National Assembly and its members.

In its report yesterday, the committee also established that the MPs' actions were a breach of privilege and punishable by law.

Mr Owino and Mr Njagua fought in full glare of media at the Parliament Media Centre on October 10, last year.
