MPs are this morning expected to start investigations into the alleged loss of Sh9 billion at the electoral commission.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is said to have lost the money ahead of last year's General Election.

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati is set to appear before the National Assembly Public Accounts Committee alongside commissioners Boya Molu and Abdi Yakub Goliye.

The three are expected to respond to an audit that revealed how billions were lost in procuring goods and services for the August 8 polls.

The investigations by the Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi-led team come against the backdrop of Chebukati’s letter to the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji to have the fired chief officer Ezra Chiloba investigated and subsequently prosecuted over claims of misappropriating public funds.
