Tomorrow's Mashujaa Day celebrations will be held in Karatina Stadium, Mathira constituency.

At a press briefing, Governor Mutahi Kahiga (pictured) said this would be the first time a governor would preside over the event outside Nyeri town, the county headquarters.

“We are working closely with Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua to ensure that the 55th Mashujaa Day celebrations are successful,” he said.

Since independence, national celebrations have been marked at Dedan Kimathi Kamukunji Stadium in Nyeri town. Mr Kahiga said national holidays would be marked on a rotational basis in the six sub counties.

“The county has made this decision to reach out to the people at the grassroots and make them feel part of the government,” he said.
