Former Wazito coach Frank Ouna has joined promoted Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side KCB.

The coach confirmed yesterday that he has signed a two year contract with the bankers.

“I have joined KCB on a two-year contract and excited about the move. This is a big club that is capable of achieving greater things,” he said.

Ouna regretted he had not done well at Wazito but blamed lack of finances for their lack of impressive results.

“We had a good squad but players kept moving to other clubs due to lack of money. It is difficult to build a team with such challenges,” he said.

Ouna will work alongside his assistant Elvis Ayany.

Ayany is credited with guiding the bankers back to the premier league after taking over from John Kamau, who was sacked two months ago.

On Monday, Wazito, who were relegated from the KPL, announced that Frank Ouna has left the club for greener pastures.

“The management has reviewed his request and painfully accepted it. He has been very instrumental at Wazito earning the team a maiden promotion to 2018 KPL season.

“The entire Wazito board and management wishes him the best of luck in his endeavors. Wazito will always remain his home."

In the interim, Ahmed Dmchulla ‘Moha’, will be in charge at Wazito. The management will help him constitute his technical bench and undertake his duties,” the club announced in a statement.

Ouna has previously worked as an assistant coach at Gor Mahia and Sofapaka and is expected to bring wealthy experience at KCB.

Elsewhere, the local transfer window opens on October 29 to January 4.

During this period, KPL and National Super League (NSL) clubs will be free to sign new players.

Calendar for both leagues has changed and will kick off on December 8. [Gilbert Wandera]
