Mandatory anti-doping workshops for National Super League Clubs

On Monday, September 24, 2018, Football Kenya Federation (FKF), in partnership with the Anti-Doping Association of Kenya (ADAK) rolled out anti-doping workshops for National Super League sides.

These workshops, which are said to be compulsory to all clubs in that division, will players taken through the Doping Control Process, the World Anti-Doping Agency’s prohibited list as well as anti-doping rules violations.

We are aiming at sharing information about anti-doping with the players so as to sensitize them on what to do and what not to, in regards to the use of prohibited substances,” said Tim Ngugi, AADA Director as seen on FKF’s official website.

The workshops have already began and on day two, players and officials from top NSL sides including Kenya Police, Kangemi all Stars, Kibera Black stars and Bidco United too part, most expressing their satisfaction the programme.

“It has been an eye-opener. I have learnt a lot about what I should and should not use and I am optimistic that it will go a long way in keeping us players clean for the good of the sport,” said one player.

FKF NEC Member for Central Region David Njoroge insisted that the federation was committed to promoting fair play and underscored the necessity of having such a workshop.

“This is the first time our players are being taken through anti-doping sessions. We are looking to take the workshops across the country to have an impact to all players in the NSL,” he said.
