Senators have renewed hopes of having Kenyans cushioned from the controversial eight per cent tax on fuel products.

The senators said they had a comprehensive dialogue plan that might see Kenyans relieved from the burden brought about by the VAT.

Speaking in Nyando during a church funds drive on Sunday, senators James Orengo (Siaya), Moses Kajwang' (Homa Bay) and Samson Cherargei (Nandi) said they were putting up a plan that would see Kenyans partly cushioned from the impacts of the increase in fuel prices.

Mr Orengo said even though there was need to pay tax, the Government should explain the reason for the taxation.

He said they had already engaged ODM leader Raila Odinga, who told them a dialogue was likely.

“Raila has said we are going to talk about it. This is to ensure that the debt burden will not bring Kenyans down,” said Orengo.

The senator said the passage of the Bill was marred by rigging.
