New sport! Bald head tug of war competition

Bald men hold annual competition to celebrate baldness

Shiny headed Japanese men have organized an annual competition to show off their lack of hair

Embracing their hairlessness, Bald Men gather regularly to play tug-of-war games and socialize in the northern Japanese city of Tsurata.

The group, called the Bald Men Club, adheres to the motto “to view baldness in a positive manner, to have fun, and to brighten the world with our shiny heads.”

Members of Bald Men Club compete by sticking a suction cup, which is attached to a single red rope, to each of their heads.

Both sides then attempt to pull the cup off of their opponent's head.

The club, which has attracted roughly 65 members from all over the country since its founding in 1989, encourages people to "view baldness in a positive manner, to have fun, and to brighten the world with our shiny heads," according to its website.

Members of the group hopes the gathering will turn into something much larger.

The event is held every year on Feb 22.
