Obado grilled over killing of Sharon Otieno

Migori Governor Okoth Obado was on Tuesday morning questioned over the abduction and murder of Rongo University Student Sharon Otieno.

The governor did not talk to journalists when he arrived at the Nyanza regional DCI headquarters and reports indicate that Nation journalist Barrack Oduor will also be questioned.

Obado has been adversely mentioned in the case and his personal assistant Michael Oyamo was arraigned in court on Monday.

Homa Bay Senior Resident Magistrate Lester Simiyu directed that Oyamo be remanded at the Homa Bay Police Station until today when he will be presented in court.

Also, only three people will be allowed to see him in the police cell; his brother George Oyamo and two of his lawyers.

The prosecution had asked for more time to gather evidence but defence lawyers opposed this request saying it infringes on the rights of their client.

On Sunday, Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji warned that no is above the law and all those involved in the murder of Sharon will face the full force of the law.

“No one is above the law, not even the governor. No one mentioned will be left out,” said Haji during a press conference.

The Rongo University student was abducted last week and her body was found in Kodera Forest.

She was abducted together with Oduor but the latter managed to escape after jumping from the moving vehicle.

Apparently, the deceased had a relationship with the governor and was even expecting his child.
