Mutinda wins Sh31m SportPesa jackpot

SPORTPESA MEGA JACKPOT WINNER SportPesa's Head of Customer Care Emily Gichuki hands over a dummy cheque to the latest Mega Jackpot millionaire Chris Mutinda at SportPesa offices in Nairobi.

The new English Premier League season kick off has come with good tidings for gamers after a 31-year old software developer won a bonus of Sh31,093,088 over the weekend in the SportPesa Mega Jackpot.

Christopher Mutinda who lives in Nairobi correctly predicted the outcome of 16 out of 17 select Mega Jackpot matches.

Mutinda who confesses to playing occasionally, said that a Jamie Paterson equalizer in the 81st minute for Bristol City FC in their 2-2 draw away to Bolton Wanderers FC in the English Football League Championship, was the reason he narrowly missed out on the ultimate MJP prize of Ksh177,684,943. He had predicted a win for Bolton.

“I have no regrets because I staked Ksh100 and won all this money which is a very good gift in my opinion,” said the self-employed software developer.

Mutinda attributes the win to the resumption of the EPL, which he considers easy to predict.

Some of the games in last week’s Mega Jackpot included EPL matches Fulham vs Crystal Palace, Wolves vs Everton, Watford vs Brighton and English Championship games such as Norwich City vs West Bromwich and Blackburn vs Millwall among others.

The latest millionaire is a Gor Mahia fan who believes his favourite team can win against Everton when they meet for a friendly slated for the UK later this year.

“I love Gor Mahia because of the good things they are doing for this country. It is a very talented team with a good coach and great teamwork. They could actually beat Everton,” Mutinda said.

Following his win, the MJP amount which increases weekly if not won, has risen to Ksh181,474,840 this week while the jackpot which starts at Ksh10 million stands at Ksh32,536,491 this week.
