The Diplomatic Police boss who drowned together with his younger brother were buried yesterday in a solemn ceremony in Kilome, Makueni County.

Charles Mwau died in his car with his brother Paul at River Kaluku after they were swept away by flash floods while heading home in Kasikeu, just a few kilometres from Sultan Hamud town.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka was among thousands of mourners who thronged Kasikeu Boys Secondary School grounds to pay their last respects, where a twin Holy Mass was conducted for the departed.

Mr Mwau was the head of the elite presidential unit that was in charge of the security detail for Kalonzo when he was Vice President.

The Wiper boss reminisced his good old days with the fallen officer who headed his security detail for five years.

In honour of the fallen officer, Kalonzo paraded former members of his elite squad who had come to bid farewell to their boss.

He praised Mwau as a dedicated public officer who carried his duties with dedication, diligence and utmost respect, attributes that earned him successive promotions.

“Officer Mwau was attached to me at the rank of inspector, but before I left office, he had already risen to the rank of senior superintended of police, proving that hard work pays,” he said. Other leaders at the funeral included Makueni Deputy Governor Adelina Mwau and area MP Thaddeus Nzambia.
