Kenya scoops position one and two in the Women’s 5000m final at the Gold Coast 2018 Comonwealth Games.
Hellen Obiri crossed the finish line at 15:13.11 to give Kenya their third goal while her compatriot Margaret Kipkemboi followed at 15:15.28 to win the silver medal.
While Margaret Kipkemboi competed in the Women's 5000m at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics.
England’s Laura Weightman came third at 15:25.84 to win the bronze.
Kenya’s Eva Cherono came seventh in the race to manage a new personal best of 15:36.10.
Obiri is the the current 5000 metres champion after winning gold in the 2017 World Championships in London. She is also the silver medalist from the 2016 Summer Olympics over the same distance (5000 metres).
She won 3000 metres distance at 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Instabul, Turkey. Obiri holds the National Record for the 5000 metres event.
