The county government has ordered the immediate dissolution of all boards of management of youth polytechnics, saying they have outlived their usefulness.

Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri said some of the boards only existed on paper. He directed Education Executive Kinyua Mutugi to declare board positions in all 11 youth polytechnics vacant and start the process of hiring new members.

Mr Ndambiri also directed that some of new board members be picked from communities surrounding the polytechnics.

“I have learnt one of the things that make these institutions not to grow is that the board members are picked from far away and have no attachment to the facility."
