Kenya Premier League Champions Gor Mahia are set to host former English Premier League outfit Hull City in a friendly match sponsored by SportPesa on May 13.

K'Ogalo are not strangers to playing Premier League sides after having lost 2-1 to Everton in Tanzania back in July 2017.

Head coach Dylan Kerr says he is happy 'the management secured such a friendly'.

"It is a good match for us as a club and we welcome Hull to Kenya. We played Everton last year and it was a good experience for us and we are hoping to get the best this time. It shows that we are growing to international standards and I am happy the management secured such a friendly. The match is good for our side as we seek to defend our KPL title and make progress in the CAF Confederations Cup," said Kerr.

Gor will play South African side SuperSport in the CAF Confederations Cup and Kerr has urged his players to take advantage of their 'home' status to win the match.

"SuperSport is a big club. They reached last year's final and we are aware of the threat they pose. This is a team I have known for a while," said Kerr.

"I was playing and coaching in South Africa and we ought to take the match as a final. We have to take our chances especially at home before heading out for the return leg," he added.

Hull City, who also enjoy shirt sponsorship from a betting firm SportPesa, played an all-star team from Kenya in a friendly back in February last year at the KCOM Stadium. Hull won 2-1 courtesy of Eliot Holmes’ header and an own goal from Gor's Harun Shakava.

Humphrey Mieno gave the Kenyan side a consolation goal from a long range shot.

Hull is currently 18th in the Championship log, with 39 points after 38 games.  They suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Birmingham in their last fixture and will host Aston Villa when the league resumes.

Gor were kicked out of CAF Champions League by Tunisia giants Esperance, after a two legged tie saw the Tunisians claim a 2-1 aggregate victory.

This will be the first time the two teams will be squaring up in the field and also the first time the Championship side will visit Kenya.
