Two children aged six months and a four-year-old were burnt to death in Teso South after their house caught fire.

Area deputy county commissioner Solomon Chepoton said their mother, Violet Kamei had gone to a nearby shop leaving the two in the house.

“I would like to tell parents to avoid leaving children alone in the house without guidance of an adult,” said Chepoton.

The bodies were taken to the local mortuary as investigations start. Elsewhere, a person died and another survived with injuries after the car they were travelling in lost control and rolled several times at Esikulu along Busia-Kisumu road.

Matayos OCS Masai Makau said the driver was speeding when it happened. “The driver could not control the vehicle because he was driving at high speed,” said Mr Makau.
